Crawl Spaces Mold Removal : 1000’s of homes in central Indiana have crawl spaces. Most home home owners do not ever do in them! For the most part, most crawl spaces are mold free. But in cases where moisture / water gets into them, there is a great potential for mold growth. The ma in causes of mold growth in a crawl space are the following: 1. Down spouts that are not getting water far enough away from the home. It is recommended that the water be taken at least 4 - 6ft away from the house. 2. High water table in the area. A crawl space is under ground 3 - 4ft. Sometimes the local water table is just under that. The vapor barrier does just what the name implies. It stops moisture from raising up from the ground. 5. Problems wi th your HVAC system. In some cases, people let what is called the drip line from the HVAC system drip into the crawl space. Other problems with the HVAC system are when condensation on the metal duct work is created. This has the effect of creating a rainforest in your crawl space during the summer. Crawl space mold can be significant problem in a home.
